What to Expect During Your Examination

You will be asked to lie on your back, and a towel or supportive drape may be used to help position and support the scrotum for optimal imaging and your comfort. A warm, water-based ultrasound gel will be applied to the skin, and the technologist will gently move a handheld transducer over the scrotum to obtain detailed images of the testicles, epididymis, spermatic cords, and surrounding tissues. Blood flow may also be evaluated using Doppler ultrasound when appropriate.
