Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) Ultrasound
Evaluate the inferior vena cava for blood flow, obstruction, and venous abnormalities.
Service Description
An Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) Ultrasound is a noninvasive Doppler ultrasound examination that evaluates the inferior vena cava—the body's largest vein, which carries blood from the lower body back to the heart. This study assesses blood flow, vein size, and patency, and helps identify abnormalities such as narrowing, blockage, blood clots, external compression, or changes related to elevated central venous pressure. An IVC ultrasound may also be used to evaluate the vena cava before or after vascular procedures and to monitor certain venous conditions.
