Renal Vein Ultrasound
Evaluate blood flow to assess for Nutcracker syndrome and other renal vein abnormalities.
Service Description
A Renal Vein Ultrasound is a noninvasive Doppler ultrasound examination that evaluates blood flow through the renal veins, particularly the left renal vein. This study is commonly performed to assess for Nutcracker syndrome, a condition in which the left renal vein becomes compressed, as well as other abnormalities affecting venous drainage from the kidneys. The examination provides valuable information for the evaluation of unexplained blood in the urine, flank pain, pelvic congestion, varicoceles, and other symptoms related to impaired renal venous blood flow.
